Barge Stool in Elm and Ash

The seat for the stool was made from a 2-inch-thick solid piece of Elm, which is

hand carved to get this very pleasant shape, no corners to knock legs.

Straight grained and quickly grown Ash is used for the four legs, which are turned

on a Bobbin–Bow Lathe and have a pattern of a ball, ring, swell and fine ring at the lower end of the leg.

Two coats of finishing oil and two applications of high quality wax polish achieve the very deep lustre finish.
