Single Bow Arm Windsor chair in Elm and Ash


The seat is hand carved from a 2 inch piece of solid Elm, shaped for comfort, with a decorative scribed line round the edge, it also has a small front pommel.


Straight-grained and quickly grown Ash used for all parts of the rest of the chair, the Ash is steam bent to form the bow and arms, these are hand carved and shaped, with turned arm supports and three elliptical short spindles, the bow, which also has a decorative scribed edge line is fitted into the arms with a through joint, and the main elliptical spindles with their steam bent lower lumber support, are also fitted into the bow.

The four legs have a pattern of   four rings, ball and three rings below with a single ring at the lower end of the legs, the short back stretchers have a ball and tapered swell fitted into the crinoline stretcher then fitted into the back legs.


All patterned turned parts in this chair are made on a Bobbin Bow Lathe.


This chair is also available with using Yew for the top frame construction.


Two coats of finishing oil, two applications of high quality wax polish to achieve the very deep lustre finish.
